Northampton Community College's new Monroe County campus, encompassing 71 acres, features three key buildings: an Enrollment Center, a Student Life Building, and a Classroom Building. The college engaged CHA to provide project management and pre-construction services for the new campus. Our methodical approach to planning and bid document preparation, including value engineering, budgeting, and constructability reviews, ensured cost-effective construction and favorable bids.
The site presented significant challenges due to its high-quality watershed, steep slopes, environmental easements, and pinnacle rock formations. Additionally, extensive highway improvements and site utility work were required. Construction was carefully phased to integrate storm and erosion control systems, including porous paving, rain gardens, and a geo-exchange field for the HVAC system, all while maintaining an aggressive construction schedule. A 600KW solar farm was also developed, incorporating carports to optimize the use of over 1,200 parking spaces.
Despite the site's complexities, this Pennsylvania project was completed on time and within budget, delivering a state-of-the-art campus for Northampton Community College.
The 42,500-square-foot Enrollment Center features offices, classrooms, and student amenities.
The 68,000-square-foot Student Life Building creates a student hub on campus.
Multiple state-of-the-art classrooms are within the 95,000-square-foot building.
