Hallowell Elementary School in Horsham, PA, is a beacon of high-performance education strategically located across from the former Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove. The Hatboro-Horsham School District tasked CHA with transforming the school district’s vision into a modern, 95,000-square-foot educational complex.
This state-of-the-art structure replaced the original 1960s building, offering a vibrant learning environment for K-5 students and a versatile community wing for athletic, meeting, and performance events. The project, bolstered by a $2 million Alternative and Clean Energy (ACE) Grant, incorporates a geothermal HVAC system aimed at reducing energy consumption by 30% compared to the old school. The innovative design, with classroom and community wings connected by “bridges,” enhances architectural efficiency and takes full advantage of the Pennsylvania site’s natural landscape to minimize sitework costs.
Designed with both students and the community in mind, Hallowell Elementary School inspires future generations and fosters a sense of community pride.
