CTDOT Major Bridge Task-Order On-Call

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) oversees the maintenance of vital bridges across the entire state. Since 2019, CHA has taken great pride in serving as the lead consultant supporting the department’s efforts in rehabilitating critical bridges, aiming to elevate them to a state of good repair.

Typical designs include deck rehabilitation, joint replacements, structural framing repairs, and substructure repairs. Additionally, CHA updates load ratings for each bridge and provides peer reviews of complex bridge rating calculations. These bridges encompass the gambit of major bridge types found throughout the state, ranging from long-span steel plate girders to curved and segmental post-tensioned concrete box girders, as well as unique structures like an extradosed cable-stayed bridge, movable bridges, and a multi-span century-old stone masonry arch over the Connecticut river.

Despite contending with aggressive design schedules, CHA has consistently completed these projects on time, helping provide critical infrastructure that will remain reliable and resilient for the communities they serve.
