Extruded plastic composite decking is popular for creating beautiful, low-maintenance, and sustainable outdoor living spaces. The AZEK Company (AZEK)—an industry-leading in sustainable residential and commercial building products—partnered with CHA to convert a vacant manufacturing and warehouse storage building into a modern production facility.
The design seamlessly integrated 11 state-of-the-art wood and PVC extrusion lines into the 355,000 SF building. The facility is thoughtfully designed to prioritize seamless workflows, maximizing productivity and minimizing disruptions. With wood and PVC lines positioned at the ends of the building, materials are efficiently guided into a central hub for streamlined delivery to the yard. This thoughtful layout minimizes transportation distances and eliminates potential bottlenecks, ensuring efficient material handling throughout production.
We also established multi-level support offices within the renovated space, including production oversight, meeting, and research spaces. Notably, the offices include a state-of-the-art 3,200 SF training center for AZEK University, offering product knowledge sessions and hands-on workshops. Designed in alignment with the requirements necessary to pursue LEED certification, this building reflects a commitment and investment to sustainability, incorporating high-efficiency closed-loop water systems, LED lighting upgrades, efficient water-cooled chillers, electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle parking, and rainwater harvesting stations.
The 350,000-square-foot building is designed to optimize workflows.
The 23,000-square-foot office space near production areas enhances efficiency.
Closed-loop water systems enable the facility to reuse up to 95% of water annually.
