The Albany Capital Center

The Albany Capital Center opened its doors in 2017, providing 82,000 SF of flexible meeting space in New York’s capital city. It seamlessly connects with key nearby venues: the Empire State Plaza, the MVP Arena, and the EGG Performing Arts Center, boasting a total of 159,000 SF of adaptable space for trade shows and events.

CHA planned and designed the new five-story structure, including three parking levels. Overcoming challenges on the 1.3-acre site, a steel superstructure allowed for efficient construction and mobility, while a 60-foot-high reinforced concrete retaining wall safeguarded adjoining streets. The building's stability was secured with 348 piles driven to bedrock at 98 feet, anchoring it in clay soils.

Visitors are welcomed inside by a captivating floor-to-ceiling mural celebrating the region's history and culture. Pre-function areas radiate with natural light and offer breathtaking views of Albany's skyline. The second level boasts a soaring 25-foot-high ceiling adorned with 44,000 individually controlled LED nodes, creating an inspiring ambiance for events. With a blend of thoughtful design, successful execution, and its proven economic impact, the Albany Capital Center stands as a testament to ingenuity and collaboration, enriching the region's events landscape.
