The multi-story logistics facility at 640 Columbia Street is a pioneering development on the East Coast. Featuring 397,020 SF of rentable space, the facility offers ramp access to 28 loading docks on the second floor. Seven freight and passenger elevators connect all levels. The structure houses 35,000 SF of offices, inviting break rooms, and employee parking in the mezzanine area.
The structure is located within a flood zone in the heart of Brooklyn’s Reed Hook neighborhood. As owner’s representative, CHA coordinated with local agencies to raise the property’s base level to meet zoning requirements. We also addressed local community board concerns about increased truck traffic, involving robust outreach and neighborhood enhancements. Amazon has leased the space, marking a significant milestone in its ability to serve the New York City Metropolitan area.
28 loading docks accommodate freight trucks and interior access to delivery vans.
