CHA's Digital Transformation and Project Excellence Recognized by Environmental Business Journal

CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) is thrilled to announce its recognition in the 2024 Environmental Business Achievement Awards, receiving accolades for Information Technology and Project Merit. These awards are a testament to CHA’s dedication to pioneering innovative solutions and advancing sustainability. As we look to the future, CHA remains committed to driving digital transformation and delivering impactful projects that benefit our clients, communities, and the environment.

Information Technology Award

CHA is enhancing client value and staff opportunities through innovative technology. In June 2024, Jeff Netland was appointed Chief Digital Officer to spearhead these efforts. CHA has thoughtfully integrated AI tools, such as the Transcend Design Generator software for water and wastewater treatment designs, and Microsoft Copilot to streamline processes and boost efficiency. Other key initiatives include the implementation of the Digital Innovators Group (DIG) and the creation of sector-based Digital Solutions Leader positions. The DIG, a collective of over 100 employees, explores new technologies and identifies growth opportunities, while Digital Solutions Leaders collaborate with business and IT teams to drive digital transformation.

Project Merit Award

The Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) project is a groundbreaking initiative that will deliver 1,250 MW of hydropower from the Canadian border to Queens, significantly bolstering New York City’s renewable energy supply. Spanning 339 miles, the project installed a concealed 400kV high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line, projected to reduce carbon emissions by 3.9 million tons in its first year. The project featured 90 horizontal directional drilling crossings to minimize environmental impact and enhance resilience. CHA also oversaw wetland and water body delineation along the 146.5-mile upland route.

The 2024 Environmental Business Achievement Awards, presented by Environmental Business Journal (EBJ), celebrate outstanding achievements in the environmental and climate change industries. CHA will be recognized at the awards ceremony taking place at the Environmental Industry Summit XXIII in San Diego from April 2-4, 2025.
