CHA Celebrates 2024 Project of the Year Award for Rogers Bridge over the Chattahoochee River

Posted September 20, 2024

CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) is proud to announce that the Rogers Bridge Project has earned the prestigious 2024 Project of the Year Award from the American Public Works Association (APWA) in the Structures category for projects valued between $5M-$25M. This recognition highlights CHA’s pivotal role in transforming the century-old Rogers Bridge into a vital link for pedestrians and cyclists, connecting the City of Duluth, GA, with Johns Creek, GA.

First constructed over 110 years ago, the Pennsylvania Petit truss bridge once spanned the Chattahoochee River, serving as a historical landmark. Today, the new 320-foot-long pedestrian bridge, designed to replicate the height and truss form of its predecessor, opens the door to expanded access to parklands, public spaces, and the Western Gwinnett Bikeway. The bridge enhances community connections across Fulton and Gwinnett Counties, promoting sustainable infrastructure and fostering deeper ties between the two regions.

The cities of Duluth and Johns Creek, Gwinnett and Fulton Counties, the National Park Service, and the Chattahoochee Riverkeepers all came together to bring this vision to life. CHA also extends heartfelt thanks to our design partners—Thomas & Hutton, Edwards-Pitman, and United Consulting—whose dedication helped turn this idea into a reality.

We are proud to contribute to these vibrant communities by delivering a lasting piece of infrastructure that honors the past while paving the way for continued growth.
